Ready for Kindergarten?
You are weeks away from your child starting kindergarten, what things should you do? In this blog we will learn what fundamentals you as a parent should be doing with your child to ensure a successful year!
Go to Orientation and Meet The Teacher!
Your child will no doubt be nervous and scared to be in an unknown place with unknown faces. By attending your orientation and meeting the teacher, you will have the chance to introduce them. They will also have a chance to see the classroom and will feel much more comfortable knowing where they will be spending the majority of their time when at school. They can also meet their classmates and make friends, another opportunity to get them excited about school as well.
Make The Big Day Special!
Their first day of school is no doubt an important milestone in your child's life. Celebrate it and make it special for them so they can start the day with the confidence boost that they need. Create a special breakfast table with balloons and their favorite breakfast, take a photo to commemorate the day, put a special treat in their lunchbox. This is a new experience to them, and making it special will make it easier for them to adjust to.
Acknowledge Your Childs Feelings
Have a conversation with your child about their feelings about starting school. Let them voice their concerns or excitement. Talk openly with them to ensure that they don't feel scared or worried. By doing this you are letting them know that they are not alone with what they feel and will give them a safe space to express any concerns.
